Dog Cafe – Sun Ray Cafe

It’s September again! Mango’s birthday is nearing! This post is er… actually a year late. But better late than never, right? ^^” Anyway, other than the cake from last year, Bf and I brought Mango and Cobie out together on his actual birthday. To Sun Ray Cafe!

Dog Cafe – Paw Pet-radise Reopens! *CLOSED*

Paw Pet-radise

In April, my favourite dog cafe announced it’s closure. I was sad to see it close because we loved going there. So when 28th April came by, we made our last trip there. It’s a place Mango came to feel comfortable in. From hiding under the table for the entire time we were there, to exploring the place and even had his first play too! Such memories. Imagine my joy when they announced that they would be continuing their lease afterall, with a brand new look! It’s not easy for a dog cafe to survive in Singapore. Over the last year, we saw at least 3 close their doors. Rentals increases but incomes don’t (or not fast enough). Operating a niche market cafe requires tons of passion to make it work. Glad it worked out for Paw Pet-radise!

Left: Counter & Kitchen / Right: Retail space (now with a gate)

After the initial flurry on the opening on 30th May, we headed down the following week. Same place, yet different! The space felt bigger, and there were more seats/tables with the replacement of the sofa booth seats with long tables with benches and chairs. Personally, I like this new furniture because it means that everything is easier to clean, and ticks have nowhere to hide *touch wood* But not a big fan of the harder chairs because of backache (old woman). But with the new seating arrangements, it meant a larger play area for the dogs! Love this. For reference, before revamp: Here

Dog-friendly Cafe – Ah B Cafe

Ah B Cafe is located within Sunny Heights in the Bukit Timah area. Not exactly a place to go if you down have your own transport, because getting a cab around the area is a little difficult, unless you book one.

That said, I (human) have been extremely excited to visit ever since I heard that a cafe was opening at this location! Some background: Sunny Heights used to be another dog-friendly establishment and I used to frequent the previous dog cafe. So, much excitement when I heard that a new dog-friendly cafe was opening in the area! (Also because it’s really a very easy straightforward drive and FREE parking!!!)

@DogsofInstaSG at Punggol Settlement & Happenstance Cafe

We had our first official @DogsofInstaSG meetup 2 Sundays ago at Punggol Settlement! Hazel from LifewithLycanLexie has been bringing them to Punggol Point/Settlement/Jetty (too many names, don’t know which is correct) over the previous few weekends and we decided to hold a meetup there!

We all rented some form of transport from the 2 shops there at Punggol Settlement. One shop has regular bicycles and tricycles with large baskets, the other has some exercise scooter thing. Please check out weliveinaflat for the different kinds of transport and prices.

Challenging. Parallel parking along a one way road.

Finally here after hearing so many people rave about this place! Mama kept putting off coming here because she always checks location via Google Maps (because she isn’t an extremely confident driver) and found out it’s near a busy expressway junction she tries to avoid all the time. Also, no nearby carpark!! Parallel parking =( So we didn’t come by until Monday this week. Weekday nights!!! It means no crowd!

Interior

Came here with little Cobie (see her white furry butt?) and Pillow! While waiting for Pillow to arrive we went ahead to snap some photos first! The ambience was pretty good, place is long with ample seating, and there’s a big enough space for us to run around. Though it does get pretty narrow near the back. And I did spy some sofa seating at the back! There’s also a pail and mop to clean up after your dogs.

Me

Handsome me. Thank you. Now where’s my food? Mama likes that they serve desserts (ie cake), because sometimes she doesn’t want to have a full meal and just want some desserts instead of finger food… (fussy mama)

Cobie!

It wasn’t crowded (obviously on a Monday night)… There was another family celebrating their Shih Tzu’s birthday! Happy doggy running around. Hehe.

Beef Meatballs

Happy dog

So Pillow and entourage came (3 humans to one small little Pillow LOL). Her humans ordered her a Create Your Own Fur Kid pasta.

Pillow’s own customised pasta! ($7.00)

Create Your Own Fur Kid Menu
– Chonchiglie (shells) pasta
– Dory Fish
– Carrots
– Zucchini

Looks good! Though they did forget her order until her human realised that all their food came except for Pillow’s and they also got the zucchini wrong (I think they ordered broccoli).

Pillow’s hungry face

Hey humans… where’s my food?!

Lover’s Rose Tea ($5.50)

Mama likes this tea but says you shouldn’t let it steep for too long, or it becomes too acidic. Hopefully they have some calming kind of tea like chamomile/mint next time? Instead of black tea/berry tea/rose tea. But pretty good for a potful to share!

Golden Beer-battered Fish&Chips ($13.90)

Papa’s fish&chips which were good! Obviously I didn’t get to eat it but it was good according to him.

Create Your Own Pasta ($8.90)

Something interesting… Pillow’s mama ordered this! Something like Pillow’s food, where you pick your own pasta combinations… I wonder if there is a combination that actually tastes bad?

Me and my dehydrated chicken from home

Cobie fluffy pom

Happy dog is happy

I had fun walking around and exploring a new place. Would actually love to come back again if mama braves the crazy traffic and parallel parking. Overall a good place to chill out with your doggy friends!

xoxo.
